About Us

London Chainsaw Training learners climbing a tree as part of an aerial-based LANTRA course.

Quality training is essential, which is why we only use LANTRA qualified instructors at LCT. We cater for learners of all levels. Whether you’re a homeowner, occasional user, professional arborist, or industry employer, we tailor our training courses to suit your needs while giving you maximum value.

Our arboricultural and forestry courses range from essential ground based machinery and chainsaw training, to aerial tree climbing and rigging.

Perhaps you’ve been working in the arboricultural industry for years, or are just starting your career - either way, a  recognised training certificate is essential in order to comply with the law and legislation. It’s also an excellent way to prove you can work safely and professionally.

We provide NPTC assessment and LANTRA qualifications in combined training and assessment packages, as well as stand alone assessments.

Well maintained and safe climbing gear that complies with LOLER legislation, ready for use.

LOLER is an important piece of legislation, and a fundamental requirement for anyone working at height, including tree surgeons and forestry workers. We offer a six monthly category 3 PPE checking service to ensure all your vital, potentially life saving Personal Protective Equipment is fit for purpose.

It’s important to remember that daily and pre-use checks are also essential to ensure your equipment is still serviceable, and in good condition.

London Chainsaw Training is operated by David J Daniel who is an actively working climber with over 20 years experience in the arboricultural industry. His team's experience gives an excellent understanding of what is required by law, what the industry expects, and the reality of working in the field.

We offer a variety of industry assessments and aerial/chainsaw training courses tailored for everyone: arborists, foresters, and homeowners. Whether you’re interested in gaining ground or technical aerial LANTRA training or NPTC qualifications, our extensive arboricultural industry knowledge is woven into every step of our courses, offering practical insights to seasoned operators and new learners alike.

It is recommended industry best practice to have all operators refreshed in the tickets they hold every 3-5 years. We offer our own and LANTRA refresher training to accommodate this.

LCT is based in South East London, but we’re also happy to travel to you provided you have a suitable site for chainsaw and arboricultural training.

It’s true that cutting trees can cause some harm to the natural world, but it can also revitalise and regenerate areas, promote natural diversity, and create beautiful natural produce.

Most sites have management plans with this in mind, that often span several decades. Site objectives can include:

  • Creating new habitats for wildlife

  • Ecological preservation

  • Recreational spaces for public use

  • Timber production

  • Conservation

  • Charcoal production

At LCT we understand that arboricultural and chainsaw training can use up precious resources. As a result, we always endeavour to use the products created by training and recycle waste. We also make use of management plans when available, and ensure that any disturbance to local species and habitats is kept to an absolute minimum.

As part of our commitment to the environment, London Chainsaw Training sponsors the following charities:
